Infatigable voltigeur, le tichodrome peut effectuer une migration altitudinale en quittant sa zone montagneuse de reproduction. Ainsi, il n'est pas rare de le croiser sur les parois d'édifices architecturaux anciens où il se nourrit d'invertébrés durant la période hivernale. Son déplacement caractéristique, en déployant subitement ses ailes colorées de carmin, fait penser à un papillon.

A tireless aerial acrobat, the wallcreeper may undertake an altitudinal migration, leaving its mountainous breeding grounds. Consequently, it is not uncommon to encounter it on the walls of old buildings, where it feeds on invertebrates during the winter months. Its distinctive movement - suddenly spreading wings flashed with carmine color - is reminiscent of a butterfly.
